Seiber Keast Lehner performed the specified Surveying and Engineering services for Ric-Man Construction, Inc. for the improvement of the rear drainage yard at GLWA’s Water Works Park Facility. The project was part of GLWA’s broader site improvement upgrades to the facility and involved site grading and storm drainage modifications in order to fully capture stormwater runoff from the facility.  SKL was the lead designer and plan developer for the project which included:

  • Over 600 feet of new storm sewers that had to be installed over an active existing underground freshwater reservoir. Particular care was taken during the design phase to ensure that the new storm sewer did not interfere with current or future operations of the reservoir which services several million people in the southeast region of Michigan.
  • A complete topographic survey of the site and calculation of the Peak Flow Runoff of the area.
  • Constructing an approximately 3,000 foot long open ditch, site access roads and soil erosion measures.
  • Surveying and Staking of the work for the Contractor.

Through innovation and knowledge of these particular project requirements, Seiber Keast Lehner was able to deliver a design to the client that provided a solution to the sheet flow runoff issues that they were experiencing while also having minimum impact to the facility with regards to the project footprint and also having no effect on the daily operations of the facility.
